Isabel Ortiz Monasterio Borbolla joined the firm in 2011. She specializes in Banking and Finance and Compliance, Anti-corruption and Investigations.
  • PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
    Isabel Ortiz Monasterio has 8 years of professional experience. In regulatory matters, she has advised national and international banks, as well as brokerage firms and regulatory agencies in derivatives, securities purchase and repurchase transactions and securities lending, and has participated in the negotiation of agreements and drafting of internal policies for such institutions to operate in the Mexican market. She has also advised companies in Fintech and data protection matters. 

    Isabel has experience in banking and finance, where she has participated in major financing and restructuring transactions advising foreign and domestic financial institutions. 

    From 2015 to 2016, she did a part-time secondment at Goldman Sachs México, Casa de Bolsa, from 2017 to 2018, she participated in the foreign associate program in the New York firm, Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP (“DPW”).
     
  • RELEVANT TRANSACTIONS
    • As a foreign associate at DPW, represented underwriters and issuers in debt offerings under Rule 144A and Regulation S, such as a European bank’s USD$2,500 million offering of senior non-preferred notes and a Mexico based chemical company’s USD$1,000 million notes offering.
    • As a foreign associate at DPW, represented the Issuer in an ongoing biotech IPO process.
    • Represented institutional buyers, sellers and financial advisors on the acquisition of publicly traded and privately held Mexican companies, including representing buyers in restaurant and consumer goods industries and philanthropic institutions.
    • Represented financial intermediaries and banks on 14 secured/unsecured domestic and cross-border lending transactions for an aggregate of USD$3,200 million and MXN$46,906 million.
    • Represented seven national and international banks and brokerage firms on Mexican regulations, derivatives, securities purchase and repurchase transactions and securities lending (over USD$100 million each).
    • Represented international banks and Mexican regulatory agencies with compliance matters and regarding the implementation of new internal policies to operate under Mexican regulations and comply with the National Banking and Securities Commission.
    • Represented the lenders in the financing of the USD$1,000 million Los Ramones gas pipeline; Project awarded “Best Oil & Gas, Best Loan, and Best Infrastructure Financing in Mexico” by LatinFinance (2015).
    • Represented a USD$5,400 million Mexican food company in a USD$1,000 million term loan agreement for its acquisition of an equity stake in a leading European processed meat manufacturer.
    • Represented a New York-based corporate bank’s financing of USD$450 million to help a major Mexican mining company purchase jack-up drilling rigs to lease to Mexico’s state oil company.
