Santiago Zardain has extensive experience within the public sector, particularly in the Federal Electricity Commission, where he worked previously in the drafting and negotiation of power coverage agreements, power supply agreements, import and export electricity agreements, as well as regulatory analysis and consulting related to the energy sector, among other activities.
As for his experience in the private sector, Santiago has focused on corporate governance, sale and purchase of assets and shares, corporate restructurings, as well as legal analysis and administrative regulatory matters. He has also participated in the drafting and negotiation of civil, commercial and administrative contracts.
Santiago is a member of the Mexican Academy of Energy Law (AMDE).
Represented Grupo México in the acquisition and financing for the development, construction and operation of a 168 MW wind powered electric generation facility in the States of Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, México.
Participated in the negotiation of power coverage agreements for the acquisition by a qualified supplier of more than 1.6 GW of power and electricity.
Participated in the negotiation of agreements for the acquisition of more than 1.2 million clean energy certificates (CEL).
Participated in the negotiation of power supply agreements for more than 600 MW before several qualified users.
Participated in several contractual negotiations to carry out import and export power transactions with the United States, Guatemala and Belize electric systems.
Collaborated in the negotiation of representation agreements of exempt generators (generadores exentos) before the Mexican wholesale electricity market.
