  • PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
    María Fernanda Ibargüengoitia Lira has advised national and international financial institutions in the structuring and restructuring of financing for public and private companies in Mexico. As for her experience in capital markets, she has advised issuers as well as underwriters in the structuring of equity and quasi-equity public offerings and their issuance. 

    She has also advised private companies and national and international financial institutions on financing projects and infrastructure, with a particular focus on operations in the energy sector. 

    María Fernanda worked as a Foreign Associate in the Latin American practice at Cleary Gottlieb in New York, NY (2021-2022).
  • RELEVANT TRANSACTIONS
    • Represented Grupo México in the acquisition and financing for the development, construction and operation of a 168 MW wind powered electric generation facility in the States of Nuevo León and Tamaulipas, México.
    • Represented EDP Renováveis and EDP Renewables Europe, the acquisition of the shares representing 100% of the share capital of the Mexican company Parque Solar Los Cuervos.
    • Represented The Bank of Nova Scotia in relation to a financing to Contour Global PLC, for the acquisition of two combined cycle power plants of approximately 500MW located in Veracruz and Tamaulipas, Mexico.
    • Represented BBVA Bancomer, Caixabank, Natixis, MUFG, Bancomext, IDB Invest and European Investment Bank as lenders in relation to the financing of the Villanueva I, Villanueva III and Don José Solar projects, having an aggregate capacity of approximately 1 GW. The project companies are subsidiaries of Enel Green Power and CDPQ.
    • Represented Reforma 509 as borrower, in a USD$41 million senior credit with BBVA Bancomer for the financing of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Mexico City.
    • Represented Comexhidro in connection to the sale by LP III Chac y Comexhidro of their interests in Impulsora de Proyectos Hidroeléctricos and Energía del Golfo to ATCO Netherlands Holding Coöperatief.
    • Represented NordLB and DBTCA under certain credit agreement for a total amount of up to USD$364.800 million and DBTCA, Allianz Global Investors, BNP Paribas, ING, Mizuho and SabCapital under certain note purchase agreement relating the issuance of 5.465% senior secured notes due 2041 for a total amount of up to USD$450 with respect to the refinancing of the Fermaca El Encino gas pipeline.
    • Represented a leading real estate developer and other investors in the antitrust clearance for its acquisition of a shopping mall in Cancún and related properties.
